भगवान का विराट रूप देखकर अर्जुन भयभीत हो रहा है और वह प्रार्थना करता है भगवान से कि हे प्रभु ! हमें तो आप अपना वही चतुर्भुज रूप दिखाइये, उसी में आप अच्छे लगते हैं। अर्जुन की प्रार्थना पर भगवान ने पुनः अपना चतुर्भुज रूप दिखाया। अर्जुन बोला - मैं आपके इस रूप को देखकर शांत-चित्त हुआ अपने स्वभाव को प्राप्त हो गया हूँ। इसके बाद भगवान बोले कि अर्जुन ! मेरा यह चतुर्भुज रूप देख पाना अतिदुर्लभ है, जो तूने देखा है। इसको देखने के लिए तो देवता भी तरसते हैं। मेरा यह चतुर्भुज रूप न तो वेदाध्यन से, न तप से, न दान से और न ही यज्ञ से देखा जा सकता है। ऐसा रूप तो केवल अनन्य भक्ति से ही देखा जा सकता है। भक्ति से मैं वश में हो जाता हूँ। मेरे भक्त का मैं भक्त हो जाता हूँ और उस भक्त की इच्छानुसार मैं चलता हूँ। यहाँ भगवान ने अपनी भक्ति की महिमा बताई है।
Arjun is getting scared seeing the great form of God and he prays to God that O Lord! Show us your quadrilateral form, you look good in that. On Arjuna's prayer, the Lord again showed His four-armed form. Arjun said - Seeing this form of yours, I have become calm and have attained my nature. After this God said that Arjun! It is very rare to see this quadrilateral form of mine, which you have seen. Even the gods yearn to see this. This four-armed form of mine can neither be seen by studying the Vedas, nor by penance, nor by charity, nor by sacrifice. Such a form can be seen only through exclusive devotion. With devotion I become under control. I become a devotee of my devotee and I follow the wishes of that devotee. Here God has told the glory of his devotion.
